A chance to discover the less-explored North Eastern Himalayas, Kaziranga Wildlife tour takes you to Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Apart from the Big 5 mammals – the one-horned rhinoceros, elephant, water buffalo, tiger and swamp deer, you can see an equally fascinating birdlife including Bengal Florican, Black-breasted Parrotbill and Pompadour Green Pigeon.
Once atop a sure-footed elephant, you would sight the legendary armour-plated rhinos at close quarters. The safaris take you through different zones of this vast park. The Kohora range in the central zone of Kaziranga is the most easily accessible from the range office. The Baguri range in the western portion of the Kaziranga park has the highest rhinoceros density. The Agoratoli range in the eastern part covers woodlands interspersed with grassland and water-bodies.
While enjoying a spectacular sunset on the vast Brahmaputra river, you can watch the frolicking of River Dolphins. You’ll also be visiting the Greater Adjutant Breeding Site, its only known breeding ground in the world. The Panbari Reserve Forest is a great place to see some woodland rarities like Asian Fairy Bluebird, Wreathed Hornbill and the Hoolock Gibbon – India’s only ape. While the tea gardens nearby are good for Greater Necklaced Laughingthrush, Rufous-necked Laughingthrush and White-browed Scimitar Babblers.
